Hello! We had a great meeting on Friday, September 16th. Here are a few things I want to share from that meeting:
The Chili Cook-Off has been cancelled, not enough folks responded or they were going to be out of town. We may try again with a Gumbo Cook-Off during the Mardi Gras Parade in Clarendon in February – stay tuned!
The Annual Luncheon is on November 16th at 12:00 at the Knights of Columbus. This is a wonderful event for us all to get together and celebrate the work we do. If you are interested in helping with the coordination of the event, contact Karen Albert at karenalbertva@verizon.net.
Do you want to have a fundraiser that’s easy and fun? The Civitan’s need your help with their Monthly Markets at the I-66 parking lots near the Education Center. They need help on Friday evenings for set-up and Saturday’s during the event. They can pay $10.00 per hour to the hard workers! Two more this year – October 1, and November 5. Contact Chris Wahl for further information: chriswah4@gmail.com.
On November 5 at the Garage Sale – Antique Appraisals for only $10.00 – Open to all!
Hope to see you all at the October meeting – October 21 at noon.
EVERY CLUB should nominate someone for either/both the Man and/or the Woman of the Year. Nominations are due October 31st. The applications can be downloaded at http://arlingtoniscc.org/mwoy.html
Attendance: Pat Kopsel, Virginia McGee, Karen Albert, Kim Durand

Announcements:
Do you need help with your Board? On Board Training may be of interest to your clubs -
Launched in conjunction with Arlington County Economic Development, the Black Belt for Nonprofits programming provides in-depth learning on topics related to building nonprofit capacity. In these 3-month long series, each topic is discussed over 3 sessions (once per month), with four topics being discussed per year. The Black Belt for Nonprofits Program is designed for the CEO, or senior staff, of a nonprofit organization and a representative of that organization’s Board of Directors.
The Leadership Institute of Northern Virginia’s Black Belt for Nonprofits aims to dramatically increase capacity through education, implementation and peer-to-peer troubleshooting.
The per person registration fee for each series (inclusive of 3 sessions, one per month for 3 months) includes trainings, materials and breakfast at all three sessions in the series. No more than 3 individuals from each nonprofit organization can be represented in each series.

ISCC is always interested in trying to hear from as many Service Clubs as possible, but we realize that not everyone can make every meeting. We would, however, like to find out what you would like.
Please take a moment to fill out this survey. It only has about 6 questions, and we’d like to hear from as many people as possible, to get a good sample.
In the mean time – our next meeting is on February 18th. I am looking for a location – so if you have any ideas, please let me know! Thanks.
